Apparently, Freedom is NOT Colorblind at the National Urban League Conference - July 28, 2010

I’m browsing through the cable channels this morning when I just happened to catch a glimpse on CSPAN-2 from the National Urban League Annual Conference held on July 28th.    Congresswoman Maxine Waters was spewing ignorance faster than I could retain it!

I believe I heard Maxine say something to the effect that black men put all their money in the banking system but never get a dime in return.   She then said something to the effect that Black men could take down the entire banking system in a day if they wanted to!  What?  Was she suggesting armed robbery, boycot, or what? Was this a story I may have missed in the media?

I sat there listening to this panel of black Americans addressing a packed house on a plethora of topics.   Jesse Jackson was on the panel and advised that Blacks accel in sports because the playing field is level, rules are in place, and referee’s are fair.   He then went on to say that the streets of America were different and that the system is unfair! He commented that the recent Stimulus money was specifically targeted so that blacks did not get the money.  Wow!

Seriously, was this reported anywhere?   There was enough racism and ignorance spewed to make me very angry and upset as an American.    Freedom is colorblind yet these Black leaders tend to ignore the basic premise of individual responsibility, accountability, and self-support.   Several of them commented that the Federal Government needs to do more which received a resounding applause from the audience.    Can you imagine the media storm if these discussions took place at a Tea Party conference?

I would encourage someone to find this panel discussion and critique it for a future show on the awesome “Conservative Minority” segment on KMBZ's 980 Live with Darla Jaye each Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Oh Alex, don't you know that reverse discrimination is quite okay in this country? Was the Mighty Maxine saying that the white bankers don't pay interest to the black account holders? Are there that many young black men with bank accounts who could bring down the system if they all closed their accounts? Do they outnumber whites, asians and latinos? How much are any of us getting back from the banking system right now? If she was implying armed robbery, which banks and how many would they have to rob to bring down the system?
Hmm referees are fair? Has the Righeous Reverend ever watched a sporting event? Is he truly that ignorant? What more does the federal government need to do?

I agree. I would love to hear the Conservative Minority tear this thing apart and expose it. Nice plug for Darla and the CM!! LOL
We are trying to get ahold of the video. it was a panel discussion held on July 28th. It was very appalling to see the racism, race baiting, and ignorance being spewed to those in attendance. I Believe Maxine singled out Bank of America in her statement. Is closing your bank account how you take a system down?
That is a very interesting 50 min video that explains why the Black community is so screwed up. They want the government to bail them out of their problems and they have a host of them.

I've not watched this yet however, it might be one of those things that needs to be archived onto a DVD for future reference/evidence. Isn't Bank of America the one providing the most accounts to illegal aliens? Maxine ought to love them for that!
The artificial injection of unqualified individuals has only and always provided a dependence on entitlements without merit. Groups like the NAACP and the Urban League push entitlements to the front of the march. Laws and skewed selection routines have never served to bring qualified people to the front. The scholastic busings of students from underprivileged neighborhoods to schools that were mainly a single racial makeup was pure folly. It took many years to prove forced desegregation is a faulty concept.

I could go on for hours about methods that do not work to "level a playing field". The building of apartment buildings with urban renewal as the mantra for providing a housing area of high standards for folks that could not afford that sort of housing themselves was nationally disastrous. What does work is an overall change of familial units from the foundation. Any American regardless of color thrives when belief of God, respect of family, and sound morals is the foundation all else is built upon. Giving someone something because they are a part of a minority breeds desire for more entitlements and less quality overall.

I have certain entitlements that I enjoy. I receive a veteran's pension and the entitlements of that pension, but I earned those things when I served in the military. I didn't earn any entitlements because I was a racial minority. There lies the problem and the solution for racial success.
Doug beat me to the punch. I do not consider "Veterans pension" to be an entitlement but rather a dividend for serving. Thank you John for your service!
Evidently, these "leaders" do NOT believe in Martin Luther Kings dream. Where ALL men would be judged by the content of their character and not be the color of their skin. Oh wait, The best way to tell the content of a persons character is by listening to what comes out of their mouths. Enough said.

On the matter of Veterans Benefits, Doug and Alex are correct. These are NOT entitlements, they are rewards earned and given for honorable service. They are the LEAST we can do for those who have answered the call of their country. All gave some, some gave all.
Thank you both Alex, Doug, and Martin; it is a phrase that should have been chosen better to be other than entitlement. Martin, I had a buddy in the Marine Corps. that welcomed me home a few years ago with a song titled Some Gave All. I can't recall the country artist who sang it, but the song was powerful to me.

Watching the videos yesterday before I wrote anything gave me a strange feeling. It's been decades since MLK was sacrificed for the cause of equality. I imagine he spins in the grave along with many others when the dream is seen through the very tainted eyes of all the action groups. The new black panthers are planning to affront the folks that participate with Glenn Beck at the Lincoln Memorial.

While many in America today have seen the dream of MLK and it's importance, there are just as many who keep racism alive. Racism as a political tool is evident in California along with many other states. The national outcry of racism as the main component of opposition to the Arizona illegal alien law is well documented. The Brown Beret movement is all about racism. I watched an interview on Fox news a while back where Jessie Jackson was only able to spout "it's racist and racism" as answers to the interviewer.

I actually laughed a lot as he comically ignored the fact of the law and would only focus on racism despite any facts presented. Racism is "just fine" in America as long as white people are the focus. That is a very sad thing to say when regarding the truth. Even befuddled past president Jimmy Carter applied racism to opposition of our current president's agenda.

The races are not equal in America and racial issues are much over burdened with hate without need. You can't just give people laws and expect anything less than entitlement orientation as a way of life. Isn't our president pushing just that? Big government with the people quietly accepting the gifts of government control. John and Jane Doe have waken up in America and the hate groups have been employed to beat the Does back into submission. The Silent Majority of times gone by is no longer silent and that scares the hell out of racism manipulators.
My thought here is Rangel and Waters will seek to garner positive political attention. One can only theorize what Congress members who are people of color could hope to gain. I do expect to hear the war cry of racism to polarize certain areas of American voters. Maybe the SEIU will bus supporters to both Rangel and Waters home areas. It won't be hard for Waters because she is a Dem in California. I'm also sure Rangel will find many SEIU supporters in New York.

I'm very curious how the voters will be radicalized into support for obvious criminals.
After watching 42 minutes of the video so far, what a nightmare. A few good answers were given that alluded to personal responsibility and family responsibility yet the rest sounds to be tied to socialist ideas. But Wow, they are really upset with the tea party! Perhaps we are making some inroads.
