Go, Team, Go!

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.
Matthew 28:19

On February 5, 2012, a record 111.3 million people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl. Imagine if, instead of excitement, energy and pep talks, the Giants and the Patriots sat on the bench whining, “We might get hurt; let’s go home!” You’d wonder, What’s wrong with you guys? Can’t you taste the victory? At times, God may feel that way about His people. Some need to figure out what game they’re playing, what position they hold, who they’re competition is, and what they win.

Today’s verse reveals the Christian’s goal is to know God, become more Christ-like and to help others do the same. Your position is to love God and others with your time, talent and possessions (Matthew 22:37-39; I Peter 4:10). You defeat your enemy, Satan, by putting on the armor of God described in Ephesians 6. The Father not only wants you to believe that He rewards you. It is a requirement of faith (Hebrews 11:6).

Make the choice every day to not be a wimpy whiner, but to get out there and win! Kick it off by praying for this and other nations of the world – that American Christians would be successful in evangelization.

[4] 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (ESV)
