Can MO Congressman Todd Akin Ground Air Claire in 2012?
After meeting Congressman Akin last evening and listening to him candidly interact with the audience for more than 2 hours, I would say ABSOLUTELY! Congressman Akin is a self-proclaimed Christian Conservative and has the track record to prove it.
This 5-term Congressman has one of the most conservative voting records in the entire country, as he voted “No” on every single bailout, handout, tarp, or stimulus bill. However, what is most impressive to me, this Congressman stood up to President Bush, Karl Rove, and the “Machine” and voted “No” on the SCHIP bill and on the “No Child Left Behind” legislation during a time and a climate that was difficult to be a Conservative in (Republican majority in House, Senate, and Presidency).
Congressman Akin holds high-ranking positions on the Budget, Armed Services, and the Space, Science, and Technology Committees. As you can imagine, there was a lot of concern about the economy, the budget crisis, the trillion-dollar deficit, and the bleak financial outlook if something drastic is not done now. Congressman Akin discussed the financial outlook of the country and equated it with the period of time leading up to the Civil War! That is some serious language coming from a man whose boots are on the ground and is entrenched deep within the command post.
There was a little bit of discussion from a gentleman making the claim that the Tea Party was upset with Akin for voting “Yes” on the most recent budget appropriation deal. Congressman Akin spent the time to explain the process and why he voted “Yes” on this CR along with several other bona-fide Conservatives in the House including Congressman Ryan. His explanation was good enough for me.
Although he is not yet an official Senatorial Candidate, he has approximately 1,000,000 in the bank and explained that there was a good reason why he was travelling all the way from Saint Louis to Kansas City and it was not to have dinner with Congressman Cleaver.
I am not aware of any other candidates that will be throwing their hats into the ring but grounding Air Claire in 2012 is a MUST HAPPEN event! I expect Congressman Akin to rise to the challenge and become a national household name as one of the Tea Party candidates to watch in 2012! That is what I think. What say you?

I was not happy about my Rep. Sam Graves voting for the last CR and told him about it. I wanted to see our Rep. draw a line on Planned Parenthood and defunding Obamacare.
If they voted for the CR what makes us think they will draw a line on the debt ceiling?
Would love to hear some thoughts on how Akin addressed his vote on the CR?

Is Sarah Steelman running for Claire's seat?
Permalink Reply by Stephanie Williams on April 22, 2011 at 11:59am First, I am shocked I did not see you guys there!!??? Allergy eyes I guess.
Sarah Steelman is running, also Ed Martin, a lawyer from St. Louis area that ran unsuccessfully against Russ Carnahan, Ann Wagner may be running, but Akin is the true (non-declared) conservative candidate for Senate from MO squaring off against Air-Claire.
I really liked him especially his affable manner and grasp of history, government and issues in plain speak. He is clearly an intellectual giant with huge doses of common sense - much like Bill Randles. He is clearly a principled public servant who stated he follows his conscience and what he explained of his votes demonstrated that to me. It should be fun seeing him square off against McCaskill in debates. I for one, cannot stand her manner of speaking in that girlish snoddy tone she has. She says nothing like all liberals. It is time for all of us who are active in MO to put her history out there. She was the state auditor and she married the guy with all the nursing home allegations that she was supposed to be investigating. Her first husband was a drug dealer who died under questionable circumstances. She charged the taxpayer for flying around on her family jetliner and didn't pay taxes on it. She is a lawyer, former prosecutor, former state auditor, and current US Senator and she cannot figure these things out? She is the epitome of corruption and needs to get the boot. I think Todd Akin is the right guy for the job.
Question is, will MO GOP support a true conservative candidate???

Great description of the meeting last night with Todd Akin. In addition to all of the good things you described, he is a FairTaxer. This is about as good as it gets with any political candidate.

I agree with all of you, I like what I see so far, there is no perfect person therefore no perfect candidate. If he does decide to run I am curious to see if the GOP will back him or not.
What the heck, Stephanie.....how did we miss you! I am sure I missed others on here that went to.

It was great to see you, too! It will be a tough fight ahead, and it's nice to know there's good people on the side of freedom!

Akin is a man you can believe and who will follow through. It is going to take a lot of strength to cut the
cancer out of our Government and our Nation. God speed and God bless!
