Charles, I'm not sure I understand about Roberts and Moran and their positions on the UN Treaty for Parental Rights.  Pledge signers mean they are against the treaty?   Moran was representative from the FIRST district; your guy Tiahrt was Fourth District.

Thank you for your comment Charles.

I am voting for Daniel Gilyeat for congress. I have gotten to know him very well in the last month through Operation Payback and I like what I see. He has strong spiritual convictions and loves this country dearly. He is not the most polished of our choice of candidates, but the 'men in suits' have not done American any favors lately.

I cannot vote for Lightner as her stands and her votes do not always match. I heard something recently that really hit home for me. I am called to work for what I believe and the results are up to God. While I do believe it is unlikely that Gilyeat will win the election tomorrow, I do have hope. I have talked to a lot of people the last month who have told me they are voting for Gilyeat. I'm not sure that any candidate will win against the name recognition of Moore. I pray that I am wrong. I cannot, with good conscious, vote for a candidate just because I've heard they would have a better chance against another candidate in the general.

Chuck--I was going to get cut off, but I want to continue here.
My second choice now would be Dan. He has progressed very impressively with his knowledge and with his delivery on the issues. I hold a great deal of admiration for the man, particularly as he has undertaken Operation Payback. He is solid in his convictions, both in his religious faith and in his love of country and Constitution. He is a true leader and man of honor. While I'm not sure that he's ready for Congress, I would love to see him run for office in his native Wyandotte County--I worked for 17 years as a speech pathologist in the KCK school district, and I know that they need a strong conservative leader like Dan up there.

Chuck--
First of all, thank you for valuing my opinion; I am truly humbled, as I've noticed your posts to be well thought out.
Back in the fall, when there were just three Republican candidates (Patricia, John, and Dan), I truly wanted to support Dan. However, when I attended a forum held at KU Edwards(?) campus, I came away disappointed in Dan's presentation. There was no doubt as to his passion and conviction, but I felt his knowledge base was lacking. I heard lots of repetition of the same themes.

After that I vacillated between Patricia and John (I never supported Nick Jordan, as he had sought to use taxpayer money to fund an ill-fated proposed soccer field in southern Overland Park). However, neither one completely clicked with me.

Then came that forum in March, when nearly all of us were exposed to Craig McPherson for the first time. (I've since found out that he actually declared candidacy in January, but was finishing law school at the time in DC). Both my husband and I were completely blown away by his knowledge of the Constitution, but equally as important was his conviction as to strictly exercising Constitutional principles. As you may recall, he won that "debate" that day.

We held a meet and greet for Craig in May at our home, and we invited friends of ours who were not Chip members. This was intentional. While we were peppering him with questions, one of our guests had been sitting quietly and listening, not asking questions. Finally she spoke up, and asked, "Will you tell us -- why should we vote for Craig McPherson?" Craig answered that he was Constitutionally based, that the Constitution was part of his "core," as he explained it. It was what drove his political convictions. I took that to mean that, just as I am a lifelong Christian -- a cradle Lutheran, to be exact -- my Christian principles guide my decision-making every day of my life, and thus, Craig's knowledge and love of the Constitution are what compose his beliefs.

Just got this. Have you already seen? From last Sunday's KC Star. Surprised that no one has posted or mentioned! Hmmm. Bias by omission, anyone?
Fighting for Kansas? Well, okay. The donations were just a bonus? I thought we wanted new, not old-style politics, we Tea Party-types? I've talked about these earmarks before but only in the amounts requested and received, never having the donation part that went with it.

Good to hear from you, Charles. Thanks for your friendship and honesty. I, too, loved Dan's "deport all the drug users" line. Love LOGIC and COMMON SENSE ! :)

Since you are still "thinking"---I just HAVE to add this: As the Christian you are, I would think that you'd be against fraudulent and misleading statements. Charles, don't know if you've been reading my writings, but TT's requested-donation mailing where his return address on the envelope AND his enclosed stationery actually has printed "Todd Tiahrt, UNITED STATES SENATE" has me very disappointed in principle....I consider it a lie--and fraudulent advertising to the masses who don't know any better. It's not honest nor is it a Tea Party value with principle to me! Just sayin' ......

Hi Charles. Promise you that it was not I who put the Moran sign in your yard. ha.
Now, I truly am NOT trying to change your vote, but I do think people should be clear in their beliefs and what they're using to make a determination. The 7% is ONE VOTE in 2009. This one vote is Moran's for the SCHIPS bill and the reason was because there was a clause in there that would affect rural hospitals and possibly shut them down.....so Moran felt he needed to help his western, rural Kansas constituents. Does this over ride Tiahrts' cash for clunkers and the stimulus bill this year? okay, your choice---plus the earmarks that you and I have discussed before--I'm not vacillating either, and I do agree with you that I will support either who wins. Cheers.

Thank you for your support!
