The news reports this morning are that the President of the United States, that would be the President of all the red states, the blue states, the purple states, and the man who is supposed to represent ALL Americans has now thrust himself and what the Washington Post calls his “political machine” smack dab in the middle of the union mayhem in Madison, Wisconsin and is instructing his cadre of organizers to expand the union protests to Ohio to embattle newly-elected governor John…Continue
"I am piling up manuscript in a really astonishing way," Mark Twain write his family in 1883. "I believe I shall complete, in two months, a book which I have been fooling over for seven years. This summier it is no more trouble to me to write than it is to lie." The…Continue

On February 17, 1817, the first public gas streetlight in the United States was lit in Baltimore, Maryland. Artist Rembrant Peale brought the idea of gas lighting to the city. He had learned about it during a visit to England, and on his return had displayed a…Continue

We have so many issues to deal with right now. One of those is the amount of money spent battling the enemy of terrorism in the middle east. I have had friends who have served and are still serving in the military who are tired of the wasted resources they have and are not allowed to use.
The amount of…Continue

It’s a well-known fact that Republicans hate children. That’s why they’re so supportive of corporations like McDonald’s, the purveyor of the instant childhood obesity kits more insidiously and perversely known as Happy Meals. To show just how much Republicans hate children Democrat members of Congress invited Arthur, the Aardvark to the Hill today…Continue
NO MORE. That was President Thomas Jefferson's answer to the rulers of the Barbary States of North Africa. For centuries, the Barbary States hid licensed pirates to attack merchant ships in the Mediterranean. The pirates not only captured booty but also held crews for ransom or sold them in the market as slaves.
European nations and the young United States had been paying the Barbary rulers huge sums of money to "protect" their ships from the…Continue
Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820, in an age when women in the United States and the rest of the world were considered inferior to men. Most colleges weren't open to women. Many restaurants had signs saying, "No Females Allowed." Husbands by law controlled…Continue

DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors Co. will pay more than $189 million in profit-sharing to 48,000 U.S. hourly workers and millions more in performance bonuses to salaried employees, according to company documents obtained by The Associated Press.
READ for yourself. There is no plan to reduce the cost of government. The plan is take another TRILLION ($1,000,000,000,000.00) from YOU.
President Obama released his budget this morning. Rather than focusing on Washington’s over-spending problem, the budget calls for higher taxes on families and small businesses to pay for even more government spending.…Continue

I sent to all of my representatives / senators and the GOP leadership as well.. Perhaps a note from the home front would do good. Let them know where you stand.
The proposed budget cuts from the GOP leadership is not enough. Reading the headlines - it appears they are looking to cut $35 - $60 billion. However if we 'annualize' the cuts they would meet the $100 billion promise. RIDICULOUS!! It should be brought to Washington's attention that we…

I am a little weary of Washington's 'long range' plan to reduce spending, cut the deficit and address the HUGE entitlements that are killing our nation's economy. How about a little 'short range' action to address these now?
Reducing the 2011 spending by $100 billion is a drop in the bucket - and the GOP seems to be struggling with that small step for mankind (sic). We have new faces from Kansas in Washington (Yoder and Moran) - - I still get the standard email responses from them…Continue

February 12 is the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, born in 1809 in a log cabin near Hodgernville, Kentucky. Long before he became president, Lincoln's friends and aquaintances called him "Honest Abe."
When he was a boy in Indiana, he borrowed a book about George Washington from a neighbor, Josiah Crawford. After rainwater ruined it, he went straight to Crawford, owned up to what had happened, and spent three days in Crawford's cornfield…Continue

Prior to the 2010 mid-term election in the United States, the conventional wisdom was that Republicans would probably pick up 20 to 30 seats in the House of Representatives. Yes, there were other more rosy prognostications from folks like Dick Morris that the number would be much higher. But generally most commentators were hedging their bets. When the dust had settled, Republicans picked up 63 seats, the largest gain in several decades and a clear rejection of the performance of the…Continue

Courts – The courts do whatever they want. The judges do not follow the constitution. Peoples freedom and property are taken away from them in violation of the constitution daily across the land in city, country, state and federal courts. They are all off the constitution and basically lawless. The bar carrying lawyers are consumed with procedures, not law. The founding father set up the grand jury system where a citizen could go and file a complaint against a government…Continue
