New Year's Resolutions.....Political CHIPS style!

It’s here!!!  It’s finally here!!  Since the day Obama won the election, we been chanting, “Bring on 2012!!”  And it’s hard to believe, but 2012 is actually here!!

I’m definitely a person who loves this time of year.  The promise of a new year has always made me a bit excited. …

Journalism: Can The Ethical Standards Be Restored?

In April of 2003 an interesting article was written in The Chronicle of Higher Learning.  It was called “Toward a New Journalism”.  Herbert J. Gans opens the article by stating, “The news media are the country’s primary providers of adult education, day in, day out, teaching millions of people about what is going on the world.  One of their courses is "News and Democracy." According to a mostly unwritten professional creed, journalists aim to turn readers into informed,…

Excellent Video on the Tax-the-Rich Mentality

This is a must-see for everybody.  It visually demonstrates the out-of-control spending the Obama administration has perpetuated.

The Best Post-Christmas Christmas Gift

My recent Christmas holiday was as blessed as it typically has been:  encompassing family, food, gifts, and of course, attendance at our church's Christmas Eve service.

Yet it was an incident that occurred that day after Christmas which was a very special gift to me, as a parent of grown children.

My daughter Erika and her husband Nick, who currently reside in Charleston, South Carolina, due to his being stationed there with the Navy, were able to visit us this Christmas. The…

Letter To Kevin Yoder: How To Save Our Nation

Below is a letter mailed to Representative Kevin Yoder on Christmas Day, 2011.  Christmas has traditionally been a time of rejoicing and looking forward to a new year in which to build stronger futures for ourselves and our children.  But those times are long gone.  Our nation faces assured disaster if changes are not made immediately. After hearing Mr. Yoder speak on numerous occasions over the past 2 years and reading his most recent newsletters, it's clear that he…

America: What Has It Become, What Is It Becoming?

Obama says Americans are lazy and won't take on big, imaginative projects anymore, then kills the big Keystone XL project.

Obama says he won't sleep until job creation is back to the pre-Omama employment levels, then kills the job-creating Keystone XL project.

Obama says we must become energy independent and stop depending on energy from nations who hate us, then kills the Keystone XL project which gets energy from our friendly neighbor, Canada.

In…

Are You Better Off today....? Part 2

Under Barack Obama the EPA has established emissions standards for power plants that will soon cause power plants in the United States to begin shutting down because upgrades will be too expensive or impossible for older plants.  The United States of America is about to reduce its electric foot-print and cause less power to be generated at a time when our energy needs are growing and our dependence on energy is greater than ever.

Why…

Ethics: A look into our social success and failure

Life is designed to work and you have to do something wrong to mess that up.

If you don’t have open doors, there is usually a reason.

If you can’t keep a job, there is usually a reason.

If you don’t have friends, there is usually a reason.

It is almost always found in how we treat people.  Do we keep our word? Do we hustle or take advantage of people?

Sometimes the reasons are clear.

You aren’t nice to people,

You…

Abortion, an African American delemma

Of course I believe that abortion should be allowed to save the life of the mother. But honestly, how often is that the case? Those who support abortion are so obstinate and hypocritical that they won’t touch the math on this one. To them the issue of abortion has ceased to be an issue about the life of the mother or the life of the baby. It is a politically driven agenda that excludes the truth about how many actual cases there are where the life of the mother is…

To be or not to be ... a Victim

Emotional, Political and Social Manipulation

What does it take to be a victim? I’m not talking about someone who by chance falls into the line of someone's gunfire. I’m talking about a mind set, a way of thinking. There are those who live their whole life "victimized." It could be because of some tragedy and they spend their life asking, “Why did this happen to me?” Or, it could be a social injustice that has…

ADHD, The False Epidemic

It is troubling to me when I think of the willingness of the medical and educational systems to give a child drugs because he wiggles in his chair.

I was born in 1955. I remember so well as a child hearing of my many friends who had their tonsils removed. It was so frequent that I wondered why mine was never removed. If you coughed at the wrong time in the wrong place they hauled you off to the doctor for the tonsillectomy. It was very…

A Free Cat

A few months ago, my daughter brought home a kitten. With a gleam in her eye, she said “It’s free”.

Since then I have been thinking about that statement. Considering the food I bought, the toys and tower things that it needs. By the way, it doesn’t use them. It chooses my furniture instead, which means the cost of my leather recliner of which the cat needed to stretch its claws on my head rest. And when I am not looking he uses the corner of the sofa. I hate that cat.

Then…

The escalating drug war on the Mexican border

Let me say emphatically, there is no diplomatic solution to the drug problem between Mexico and the United States. Mexico and its people have been taken hostage. Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez, along with other border towns reminds me of Columbia and Pakistan at their worst. They are controlled by the drug cartel, gangsters and thugs. These are among the most brutal terrorist on the planet. In 2010, over three thousand people were murdered. That’s inconceivable. Many Americans were among…

Where is Ronald Reagan when we need him?

Understanding how to negotiate with rogue nations

The world today is facing a tipping point. It is a time of change and transformation with good and evil pulling us from one side to the other. We saw this early in the 20th century.  A time when wicked leaders seem to come in clusters, and were hell bent on world domination.  The group of leaders that we deal with today seems like lightweights by comparison but still resembles the former group…

Haiti is a mess

January 16, 2010

I have been in the ministry since 1971. In the early years, the missionaries from our church actually lived in Haiti. They lived there for a number of years. Since that time I have seen an untold amount of money and effort pour into the country of Haiti. Probably more than any other missions outreach that I personally have ever seen. After all that has been done, its conditions have never gotten better, as the matter of fact they might be worse. Their…

How to create Job Growth in the United States

This is not rocket science. Job growth is caused by promoting and building the factories and shops where those jobs are created. I am speaking of American companies, especially small business. If you are needing milk from a cow, you should at least consider the value of the cow. You're not going to build the job market by penalizing and harassing small businesses. If I were a business owner, I would be looking at two things, opportunity and profit. If those two things are threatened…

Level playing field?

Look no further than Capitalism and Free Enterprise

I’ve listened to our politicians talk about “leveling the playing field” in America. Their line of thought is to make it fair and equal for everyone. In their mind a level playing field is making sure that everyone has an equal part and therefore an equal footing. They think the solution is to take money from the rich and give it to the people who don’t have any money, thereby balancing…

Levy taxes on the evil rich

It seems a lot of focus has been placed on taxing the rich. Some how that is suppose to comfort us. We are finally getting the bad guys. The promise is that the evil rich are the only ones who are going to take the hit. It is a lesson to our society that says that the poor are the good and the rich are bad. I see this as the height of manipulation and control. It is smoke and mirrors when a politician says this to you. It is an attempt through blame to draw your attention away from what…

Socialist America?

The word “Socialism” has been thrown around a lot during this last Presidential cycle. So that it is not just rhetoric from the right or left, we should employ the use of the dictionary to help us define the current position of this Administration.

      Socialism

      Pronunciation:
