It's now been over a month since the November 2nd elections which indicated a significant shift in the country. There were Tea Parties, rallies, speeches, phone calls and other activities to educate individuals about the issues and candidates, and to motivate people to get out and vote. That work has paid off.
What about now? As the song goes: "What have you done... lately?" This holiday season is a great time to focus on family and faith. A tremendous amount of gratitude has been shown by many people this holiday season. It seems to have something to do with the past year and all the work so many individuals have done. Reflecting on the past year is important, but action needs to be taken.
Ask yourself, "Have I contacted my state or federal congressman/woman or senators? Have a I continued to follow issues? Have I attended any group meetings and followed up on my political tenets? Have I supported a local charity through time or financial support which I have chosen myself?"
Keeping the motivation for ourselves can be difficult, and we don't have to do it alone. There are no major rallies, and the next election day is far off in the future. By participating in a group, or by volunteering, this will keep all of us connected to the tenet that this country is decent and good. This country is unique and blessed. This country is ours.
What have you done...lately?
