For some time I have been reading a lot of comments and back and forth conversation. A great deal of this is good, well thought out, giving all who read it some good talking points. However it does not seem like it progresses much beyond just thoughts. This is not bad or a waste of time, so do not take me wrong in my comment.
I would suggest that for most of us, we need to take an expanded approach. What I am suggesting is that we start having small discussion groups in our home where we invite a few younger adults (I look at 35 as younger) and have a political dialog. I do not mean to turn these into campaign events. What I am looking for is to excite the younger adults to start to become politically active.
By this I mean that they start to think about issues, form clear ideas of what those issues are and how to incorporate them on their daily lives. Understand the beauty of our Constitution, and how it has made us the greatest civilization on the face of the earth. Reading many of the posted Blogs would tend to give these young citizens something to think about, other than Reality shows!
All this in hopes that a couple of them will get active in local politics, run for the School Board, maybe a City Council position, get the experience and name recognition. Then run for a State Office.
In essence become “Participating Citizens”.

Comment by Angelo H Mino on September 7, 2012 at 10:48am It was a sad moment...Where is our country going?
Save me Lord!
Angelo, how sad that the meeting did not take place due to the belief/unbelief of several people there. It's too bad that the agnostics weren't given another opportunity to become believers in the living God who is active in the affairs of men. From you they would have learned more about American history, exceptionalism, patriotism and faith. For those who are offended by the Pledge of Allegiance, I invite you to move to a place more conducive with your tenets. I can think of at least 6 nations that would be glad to have you.
Doris it is too bad that you were so sensitive and politically correct by placing hinderances in the way of what would've been a marvelous night. I appreciate the concern you have for America and your willingness to invite Angelo to meet with your group. The truth is the truth no matter how we look at it. As Glenn Beck says, "The truth has no agenda". Now, obtain some intestinal fortitude and schedule another meeting w/o worry of what others think. If they truly care they may not be as offended as you might expect.
Comment by Angelo H Mino on September 7, 2012 at 7:24am By the way, Yesterday I was invited to a house in Overland Park, the owner was waiting for me and asked to PLEASE do not ask people for a prayer, and please do not ended with the Pledge as I do, beacuse there were 4 Agnostics at her house and 2 J. Witness...See you Doris! I was back home in 5 minutes!

Do you remeber the Green Tavern? Yep the very first TEA Party seed! Just four people started the big change, Do you remeber the Independence war? ONE person (T. Paine) and few pieces of papers.......
"All change, even very large and powerful change, begins when a few people start talking with one another about something they care about" I care about my Country and I am always looking for people who wants to meet, read the Constitution, a little bet of a prayer and a HUGE exchange of ideas.
I am just one e-mail or phone call away!
Many of us have been participating in various ways and I like the idea of meetings in homes. If you are able and willing to do so, take up Angelo Mino (on this site) on his offer to meet in these settings. He can speak to a variety of topics that will fascinate you.
