Feinstein's Assault Weapons Ban in Committee

Last week the Senate Judiciary committee began consideration of ultra liberal Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Anti-Gun bill S. 150 - "The assault weapons ban of 2013"

This bill has been met with much resistance, but those set on imposing tyranny on Americans will not give up. The second amendment of our Bill of Rights states, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The second amendment is not about hunting or sports, it’s to keep our government in check. We have it to protect ourselves from tyranny. Those of us who desire liberty must be willing to so what is necessary to protect it.

I am angered and offended that those who swore an oath to protect the United States Constitution are doing what they can to destroy it. The second amendment is the one that protects all the others. If we lose it, the others will be close behind.

United States Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) has pointed out that the assault weapons ban was tried 19 years ago under President Clinton. According to the Department of Justice’s own study, the decade long experiment was ineffectual in reducing murder or violent crime rates.

Chicago and Washington DC have the strictest gun control laws in the U.S. and yet, they experience the highest crime rates in the country. We have hundreds of laws on the books and gun free zones posted all over the country, however, neither of these stop crime. Criminals do not care what the law is; they are criminals. As a law abiding citizen, I am tired of being punished for what the law breaker does.

Our government is attempting to pass another law that will have zero affect on crime in this country. The only thing the passage of this law would do is to put citizens under further control of the government.
