Hello my name is Zoé Soto-Gilbert; I am new to Political Chips. My invitation to join came from a very nice man who impressed me with his love of this great Nation and Patriotism. Mr. Angelo Minio and I met about a week ago in an effort to unite the Hispanic Community of Kansas in support of Governor Mitt Romney.
I am currently working on two fronts with the campaign; one is the Women for Mitt and the other is Midwest Hispanics for Romney. My efforts on the latter entail uniting the Hispanic communities of 5 States in the Midwest, these are: Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri Illinois and Iowa. The goal is to hold a BIG Rally in Iowa at the end of October. Led by Hispanic supporters but not exclusive to Hispanics we should have delegations from the 5 States at a Rally where Craig Romney who speaks fluent Spanish will introduce his father Gov. Romney. This Rally will be well publicized and will prove that there is a large portion of the Hispanic votes that belong to the Republican Romney-Ryan ticket!
This past week in Kansas City I was interviewed by a Hispanic newspaper. After a very thorough conversation with the journalist, a number of us in the room realized that the overall problem seems to be, that those who have not made up their mind and even some of the people that are planning on voting for Obama just don’t know the candidates well!
Allow me to share, just two stories out of many that I have, from my experiences working in South Carolina on Governor Mitt Romney’s campaign as a volunteer 4 years ago.
One afternoon while getting ready to go to the Lexington SC Romney headquarter to run a phone bank I received a call informing me that Gov. Romney would be coming there to personally thank the volunteers. Of course I immediately called several people to let them know and ask them to pass the word around. Later on that night, surrounded by about 30 volunteers, we got a call saying that he wouldn’t be able to stop after all because of the distance and time but that Governor Mitt Romney wanted to be put on a speaker phone to be able to apologize to the volunteers there. When he was on the speaker in a very formal voice he said. “I feel bad that we won’t be able to make it to Lexington, we have been to Greenville today and had a nice event, and we also made it to a fun BBQ in Spartanburg where we ate with a lot of voters and then we travel to Batesburg and met with some concerned seniors that needed to know what I would do for social security and medicate. We then visited with a group of supporters in a town close to Newberry and so now we are running late, and although I really wanted to come in and visit with you, our schedule just won’t allow it.” I then piped in and said “don’t you worry Governor; we just want you to take your vitamins and make it all the way to the month of November. We need you healthy and worry about you with this crazy busy schedule that you have to keep!” He chuckled and his voice changed a little to a more relaxed tone and then said “Well thank you, and seriously folks I am really very grateful to you for being there. I realize that you, like me, would rather be doing something else, like spending time with your children or grandchildren, instead of making phone calls. However, our Country really needs us right now, so we must make some sacrifices.” It hit me hard when I heard him say that, he really would rather not be running for President if this great Nation was not in trouble. However, he knows that he has the solutions to solve many problems that we face and wants to serve!
My second story includes my son Ethan who was at the time 10 years old and in the 4th grade. His teacher Mr. Mark Gardner was an enthusiastic first year teacher who, knowing that I was involved in the campaign, informed Ethan that he liked Governor Romney and would love to meet him. I sent a note to Mr. Gardner inviting him to a Rally at the University of South Caroline the following week. When the night of the event arrived Ethan informed me that his teacher was there to which I told him to get him to come as close to me as possible and be patient. After Senator Jim DeMint had introduced Governor Romney, and he had given his great speech, the press as well as about 15 hundred people surrounded him. I was standing behind the Governor and when the opportunity presented itself I lightly touched him on the back and said, “Governor my son’s first year teaching 4th grade teacher Mark Gardner would like to shake your hand and he is standing right here by me.” Now I have worked on many 30 and 60 second commercials and I can confidently say that Mitt Romney turned towards Mark Gardner and shook his hand for about 3 minutes as he congratulated him on his first year as a teacher and told him what his vision was for education in our great Nation. Governor Romney is not only a very good, moral, compassionate man but he is also a smart man. He is a flawed human being as any other. However, he is a disciplined, intelligent man who has succeeded not only in the private sector and the scandal ridden 2000 Olympics, but also as he served in the State of Massachusetts as Governor.
These are only 2 stories that I chose to tell so that I could perhaps give you a glimpse of the type of person he is, a side of him that maybe many people do not see or know. An 84 year old widow Mexican legal American citizen, who I know well and love, has been living on her social security check of 300 dollars a month for the last 5 years. She never wanted to go to the government for aid because she said “I have dignity and pride and didn’t come to this country for handouts but to live the American dream of a better life, a better future for my posterity.” At the insistence of her family, when she finally broke down and apply for food stamps she was grated the huge amount of 30 dollars a month! What I know about Gov. Romney is that he is a man of solutions and that, among many other problems in our government, those who really need assistance, will really get it!
The first question I ever asked him when I first met him was regarding the immigration department to which he gave a great answer/explanation. Since time is short and for fear that I have already bored you with this post, I will be happy to tell you the rest of that story and how the conversation went next time.
We could talk about the many reasons why Governor Romney is the best man for the job. Aren’t you just amazed at how simple it would be, that if nothing else, the voters would compare resumes; we would clearly choose Mitt Romney who stands out as the best man for President of the United States of America. There is so much about these two men that we still don’t know, (both good and bad,) important information that we should learn in the next 6 weeks. It is time to make up our minds and if we have done so and know who the best leader will be, than we must talk to others and warn them about what is at stake in this the most important election of our lives. (Ironically, that is exactly what a 98 year old woman at the Republican National Convention told me this was for her.)
Here is a link to the documentary movie 2016 Obama’s dream. If you haven’t seen it, please take the time to watch it, (get some popcorn and sit back, it’s about 1 hour and 10 minutes) if you have and know how important it is for others to see, please forward the link to everyone on your address book or post it on your face book or twitter.

I will put up some pictures that were taken at these two events so that you may enjoy these two stories better. I am glad that some one took and then gave me these photos since I am a strong beliver of the saying. "A picture is worth a thousand words" Hahahahaha!
