Grand Jury Petition for removal of Obscene Statue at Overland Park Arboretum
Political Chips Family,
We are working with Joanne and AFA to help retain signatures for the removal of an obscene statue at the Arboretum, please take the time to review the info below and sign, if applicable and send to others. Moms and Dads take a look at the picture and the meaning of it and you will see why this is completely inappropriate for the park! Its easy all you have to do is sign and mail.
Joanne Hughes (Chipper), Phillip Cosby of AFA, and George Hsu met with Mayor Gerlach of Overland Park regarding obscene sculpture on display at Overland Park Arboretum, Mayor Gerlach denied the request to present the petition to the City Council, and the City will not move the sculpture to an adult venue. AFA is taking it to the next level by calling for a grand jury investigation. We believe this sculpture promotes obscenity to children. We need approximately 4,500 handwritten signatures of registered voters in Johnson County in order for this issue to be taken before a grand jury.

Wow! Did you even look at the petition. Also as a woman and mother of teenage girls I find it very offensive! The statue represents sexting if you know what that means.

I walked the Arboretum trail last week and I didn't see any obscene statues. Unless they're talking about the Michael Jackson one? There are much racier statues in Washington DC and on public streets in the plaza in KC. You really have to strain to make an issue out of this, I saw innocence and beauty when I looked at them. I think it's a very fortunate addition to our park.
