Marines in Egypt not allowed to have live ammunition.

U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.

Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”

U.S. officials have yet to confirm or comment on the reports. Time magazine’s Battleland blog reported Thursday “Senior U.S. officials late Wednesday declined to discuss in detail the security at either Cairo or Benghazi, so answers may be slow in coming.”

If true, the reports indicate that Patterson shirked her obligation to protect U.S. interests, Nightwatch states.

The radical Islamist leaders in Egypt are planning another massive rally tomorrow at the US Embassy after Friday prayers.

Comment by Greg Beal on September 16, 2012 at 11:08pm: I read w/in the last day or 2 that the Marines were only "disarmed" a day or 2 before the attack. Today the Libyan President announced that this was a planned attack and not spontaneous.

Comment by Kathy Brown, Esq. on September 16, 2012 at 7:43pm: I forgot: Stevens only got to Libya recently on a cargo flight/boat. Literally NO planes would fly in there. Indeed: The ambassador and his aides had to 'stow away' on a cargo transport, since no one would take responsibility for transporting anyone, much less Americans, into Libya.

Into the bargain: Amb. Stevens 'created the monster which devoured him', as Robert Spencer stated so well. Meaning: He was warned that NO flights would go there, since they're mad with blood lust over there since killing Qaddafi (even Islamofascists accidentally do us all a favor every 100 yrs. or so). So what did Amb. Stevens do? Why, he was so certain (just like Obama) that these lovely terrorists whom he'd worked with SOOOOO MUCH, would NEVER hurt him!

Now Patterson's in hiding and Stevens is dead. Along with 3 other of our beloved American citizens, including 2 SEALS. Patterson will be airlifted out of Cairo, doubtless, in the next few days. Presuming of course that they can get her out.

Wonder what she's thinking about now, of her 'gun-less' policy.

What I am trying to discern (good luck with our liberal media and lying administration) is WHEN were the Marines DIS-armed? Has it been a regular Patterson-Obama policy or were was the live ammo removed from them just days prior to the attack.

This whole mess will not work itself out untill the Congress, Senate and Presidency are back in conservative hands.

From Afghanistan to Lybia to Egypt and beyond is a product of the administration's weakness and confused logic.

America's military has ... is .. and will continue to be "in harm's way".

It is absolutely true that there is anger and frustration in the military that I haven't seen since Carter.

Anne and Hillary both attended Wellesley College and as you know it is a liberal college. They are roughly two years apart in terms of age.

The Obama Regime is like a very tangled twisted mass of vines. It permiates and penetrates all layers of government at national and state level.

Their priorities and goals are covert, and twisted. They are like Cyborgs from the movies ... connected at the brain.
