America is under attack like never before. Our enemy lives within us. The attacks against our second amendment are among the most dangerous we have ever seen and they are coming from those who have taken an oath to protect the Constitution. President Obama, Vice President Biden, Senator Feinstein, Rep. Pelosi and others will stop at nothing to gain the control they want. Taking our guns and limiting our rights is not about the crime or the gun, it's about control. The Obama administration has announced that if Congress will not work him he will use Executive Order.

As a woman, I carry a gun because I can be put in situations where I would be totally defenseless otherwise. A gun makes me equal to the strongest man. A firearm gives me the ability to protect myself and my family from those who seek to harm. I take my responsibility seriously and have done what I need to do to be proficient in handling my firearms. My firearms are not and never will be dangerous. They are simply an object that does nothing until they are picked up and used. As a law abiding citizen, who has taken the time to be properly trained and proficient in their use, they are a tool that makes me an equal.

I listen to 'agenda driven' journalists spew propaganda presented as facts and statistics that are inaccurate or just plain out lies. They have shown they they do not understand guns, yet they continue pushing the agenda set by our socialist leaders. Sitting back in silence while this attack occurs is not an option.

I appeal to women (and men) to speak out now to stop the coming changes and restrictions against our second amendment right. These changes will do nothing to reduce crime in this country, in fact, I believe the exact opposite will occur. Chicago has already proven that strict gun control does not work. If it did they would not have the highest crime in the nation. Liberals can’t seem to grasp the concept that criminals do not follow the law. There are already hundreds of laws on the books, and they have not stopped crime.

I am the face of the American gun owner. I am a law abiding citizen who is responsible and desires the right to protect those near and dear to me. I will not allow a tyrannical government to strip me of this right. Guns and ammo are flying off the shelves at warp speed. Does the government really not understand that we will not give up our guns? What do they really think will happen if they tell us to turn them over? I will not be disarmed. I will not give up my guns. I have a God given right to self protection and the Constitution promises me that the government will not infringe upon this right.

And the world's largest retailer has suspended ordering any more ammo in anticipation of dear leader's firearms regulations. I know that Cheaper Than Dirt and Dick's Sporting Goods suspended certain firearm sales post Newtown. I don't know if they are "back in business" yet. Hmm, over 1 billion rounds ordered for DHS in the last year or so, how is this going to end? As I've said before, it is our patriotic duty to hide weapons and ammo just like our founders ;-) The precedent has been set.

Obama has a very bad habit of doing the exact opposite of what he says so when he said today, "I'm not going to take your rifles, shotguns and handguns", then what is he going to do? Regulate, register, confiscate or make ammo disappear?

The founders relied upon writings of very wise men who understood that we had better learn from our history or we are doomed to repeat it. There are a lot of things going on write now that scare the heck out of many of us. Debt, deficits, unemployment, the value of dollar, food shortages, etc. are scary. The government toying around with or acting upon its threat to alter or infringe upon the 2nd Amendment will guarantee that history will be repeating itself in my humble opinion. Let's hope and pray that "common sense" will prevail.

Comment by Yvonne Starks on January 12, 2013 at 4:17pm: These are the times that try men's souls......written during our American Revolutionary War time....I keep seeing so many similarities today that I think we should take note of the courageous men and women of that time......and relate what they did to what we can do now. That is, of course, if we are as courageous and determined for liberty and freedom as they were!

Does any one realize that the "shot heard 'round the world" in Lexington....some consider the first real action to set off what became the total war....was about the government (then the motherland, Britain---King George III) taking our guns?

There was already rebellion and talk of breaking away from Britain, especially in the state of Massachusetts and King George III knew it well---and didn't like it one bit---and was going to curtail it. Gunpowder, ammunition, guns would not be on the import list to America....and soon the decree was put forth to confisgating the American guns already in the colonies.

The word got out and the colonists were adament...and brave and determined...that this was not going to happen. Several things occurred which led to the colonists firing shots at Lexington....one being something that our illustrious educational system seems to have lost all these years in the transition of teaching us about Paul Revere.

When Revere made that ride throughout the cities and rural areas of Massachusetts (along with other riders), shouting the warning, "The British are coming.....the British are coming!"......what do you think he was telling them?    Yes. That the British were coming to take their guns.   HIDE THEM NOW.....or be prepared to USE THEM......

Later into the War, the American colonists also sabotaged a British ship ("Black Prince") carrying gunpowder, ammunition, and guns to America FOR THE BRITISH TROOPS......because they knew that George Washington needed it...and needed it very badly!   They succeeded....renamed the ship "Alfred" (don't know where that came from).....and if I understand this correctly, flew the DON'T TREAD ON ME Gadsen flag for the first time.

Gadsen named for Christopher Gadsen, a Revolutionary War patriot from South Carolina....who had led the Sons of Liberty there and served as a Representative from the state.......he's credited with giving the flag to Commander Esek Hopkins of "Alfred"....and John Paul Jones credited with hoisting it on the ship for all to see.

GUNS and OUR GUN FREEDOM has played a major role in our over-all FREEDOM.

If Paul Revere, Christopher Gadsen, George Washington and the numerous others of their time...while living "regular lives" and trying to make a living and be happy could sacrifice their time, even putting their lives in danger for love of country and the freedom they knew was inherent in human nature, granted by God........
