RIHGTONLINE / VEGAS 2912
Live Report by Emery McClendon / INDIANA
I arrived in Las Vegas on Friday morning for the Americans For Prosperity "Rightonline" Conference.
After arriving at the beautiful Venetitan Hotel I proceeded to the Shuttle bus pickup area to join AFP Nevada, and the volunteers to go door to door and inform residents about AFP and the issuses facing them in the upcoming election.
Those joining in to were upbeat and ready to pound the pavement for our cause. Tim Phillips, the President of AFP was on hand to help motivate and work with us. He shared some interesting storie,s and we had the opportunity to discuss our strategy as we rode to the selected location.
I teamed up with a young man from Washington State. We shared each others story briefly and then hit the pavement. Our assignment went very well. We met some very nice residents that wanted to learn more abour our targeted candidate and AFP. We also ran into several folks that gave us a challenge, and a few just did not want to hear our message.
One lady told me that she loved Big Government and that she thought that the government sould grow even bigger and provide everything for all Americans.
After the supplies ran out we returned to our bus, and shared stories with the other teams. We then headed back to the conference.
As we returned to The Venetian the excitement was high as the clock was ticking down for the start of the conference.
I attened the interesting session moderated by AFP'S Stephanie Fontenot. We learned how to use the new Social media to our advantage and focused on tips to make one a better Blogger. Some of the topics were Pinterest, Google, and Facebook.
After this session I strolled over to the Book signing event and talked to some of the people waiting for thier books to be signed by the authors, which included Michelle Malkin. I even said a few words to Ms. Malkin and presented her with one of my T-Shirts from Amateur Radio Military Appreciation Day. (www.armad.net)
Next was the Andrew Breitbart Tribute Reception. WOW! did AFP put out a nice spread for this event. The food was delicious, and the the conversation was great.
The Tribute was sponsored by AOL, and included a short program with toasts to Andrew Breitbart by Friends and Colleagues. Needles to say a few of them really got the crowd going.
The final event of the night was the Rightonline Welcome Event. This event was held in The Veronese Ballrom and the house was packed as we heard from such speakers as Adam Stryker, AFP President Tim Phillips, Governor Sarah Palin, Alan Cob, and viewed the sneak preview of "Hailing Brietbart.
The house rocked during the Welcome event as we also heard speeches from Michelle Malkin, and Stephen Bannon. Afterwards we had the opportunity to screen the movie "Occupy Unmasked.
The stage was set for Saturday's events and Breakout sessions.
If you were one of the attendees of this years event your spirits were lifted, and everyone went away feeling that Rightonline 2012 was the best conference to date. Everyone was ready for the start of day two.
If you missed this years event you missed a treat. Stay tuned for my posting of Day two events and check out some pictures and tweets on Facebook and Twitter.
