We are weeks away from the most important election of our lifetime. If there was ever a time for working hard to achieve our goals, it’s now. There have been several races over the past few months that have been very good news for conservatives.
Last week, in the Kansas Primary election, a big deal happened! Kansas voters ousted 8 moderate, liberal Republicans with conservative Republicans. One of those replaced was President of the State Senate who had served in the Senate for twenty years. Many 25 plus year incumbents were sent home! Kansas, on a political map, is about as red as you can get, but when it came to voting, we were more purple than red. We were anything but conservative. Conservatives didn’t just squeak by in the primary, they won by 20 percentage points or more in many of the races. Voters are waking up to the fact that an ‘R’ after a name doesn’t mean conservative. The Tea Party spent the summer working hard in Kansas. We walked door to door with good, conservative candidates. We stuffed and delivered literature bags, and made phone calls. In the end, good old grassroots hard work paid off! What happened in Kansas should send shockwaves throughout the GOP. Candidates who call themselves Republican, yet choose to govern left of center should be very worried.
The Show Me The Chips program was very successful in helping many of these conservative Republicans win in the primary. Moving forward, Political CHIPS will be instrumental in identify true conservatives and educating voters.
A couple weeks earlier, a one time long-shot candidate, Tea Party aligned, Ted Cruz won the Republican runoff for a Texas Senate seat. Well funded and supported by the Republican machine, Dewhurst was not able to keep Cruz from pulling off an upset. Ted Cruz’s victory sent a loud message to Washington! Americans are ready to take their party back. Voters are saying NO to establishment selected candidates.
The recall elections in Wisconsin were almost treated like a national race. Conservatives from around the country donated money and time to counter the support of unions and big money. Governor Walker stood up to powerful interest groups and union money to do what was right for Wisconsin. American conservatives stood beside him. Many have said that the Wisconsin election was a peek at what could happen in the 2012 Presidential race. Wisconsin has traditionally been a Democratic battleground that easily went to Obama in 2008. I believe this recall election is a good sign that voters are waking up in Wisconsin.
These three examples show what can be done when true Conservatives fight for what is right. While all of these races have been hard fought battles, we must not forget that the war is still in front of us. Don’t become weary before we reach the finish line. Stay strong and fight!

Comment by Loretta Rebeck on August 17, 2012 at 10:09am There has been a war waging in Murfreesboro, TN. The Muslims wanted to build a mosque and have finally succeeded (53,000 sq. ft.), but now want to have 'Sharia Law' implemented. We have to get behind TN and fight this idea. If the Muslims get their wish, Muslims in other States will want to follow. This could end up creating a domino affect. This is America, and if one wishes to live here, then they should have to follow our 'LAWS'. 'NO SHARIA LAW' in America.
Comment by John Stolte on August 16, 2012 at 9:10pm My congratulations to Kansas Patriots! We have our own problems with our Senate in Missouri which has successfully prevented an anti Sharia Law bill from passisn the legislature two years in a row. I donated time and money to Scott Walker and Judge Prossers campaigns in Wisconsin and am currently concentrating on Connie Mack in Florida, Richard Mourdock in Indiana, Thomas Smith in Pennsylvania, Todd Akin in Missouri and the Romney/Ryan ticket.
It is extremely important that Conservative Patriots remain involved and engaged now and well into the future. The Liberal, Progrsssive, Socialists have a 100 year head start on us.
We can be victorious but we must remain active!
Comment by Sally on August 16, 2012 at 4:17pm We won battles as you say Leah but the war will NEVER be over. The attack on America has been on for decades and they will not quit, nor can we. We have to continue the fight, continue to educate the public and especially our kids who are constantly indoctrinated in the educational systems. That is what we are fighting today, uneducated, indoctrinated 60/70's drug users, we will never change their minds for the mostpart but we do have the aformentioned that we can educate, change and bring along. Teach and understand history, the Constitution and the bill of rights. The appreciation of what we have and why will be understood.
Comment by Ralph Harrison on August 16, 2012 at 4:09pm Good summary report on Kansas Conservatism Leah. Thanks!
