The Kansas State Rifle Association is busy working to protect our Second Amendment in Kansas. We are currently working to promote five bills and to stop three. Last week,The Public Building and Security Act, HB 2353 was heard by the Committee on Federal and State Affairs in the House.
This bill, sponsored by Representative Forest Knox, was presented and passed the House by a slim margin in 2010, but was not given a hearing in the Senate. In summary, this bill states: The carrying of a concealed handgun as authorized by the Personal and Family Protection Act shall not be prohibited in State or Municipality facilities or premises unless such facilities or premises have adequate security measures to ensure that no weapons are permitted to be carried into or on such premises or facilities.
Read the text of the bill here: http://www.kslegislature.org/li/b2011_12/measures/documents/hb2353_...
Please take a moment this week and call your Representative and express your support for HB 2353.
