Political CHIPS - Conservative Heritage Institute for Principled Strength

"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

With the suspension of Rick Santorum’s campaign, it seems Mitt Romney will the Republican nominee for president. Though I had reservations about Santorum’s candidacy, I am truly disappointed it seems a true conservative will not be a viable choice this election. The question then becomes: What’s the goal of this election? For me, firing Barack Obama is the ultimate goal. It’s one we can’t afford to miss. How do we do that? How to we ensure he’s a one-term president? Vote for Romney? Vote for a 3rd party? Don’t vote at all? Can anything be done (and I mean seriously be accomplished) before the convention?

"Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." -- Winston Churchill.

I pray all conservatives, Christians, independents, Constitution-loving Americans, to fully support whatever option will beat Barack Obama. In my opinion, there will be no knight-in-shining-armor elected into office. It falls to us; we the people, to turn the tide and fight for our American ideals.

"It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error." -- U.S. Supreme Court in American Communications Association v. Douds.

About two days ago Laura Ingraham took a caller to her radio program who stated that he would not vote for Romney, since the caller was a Christian and Romney was not. He started quoting at least two Bible verses verbatim. One of the verses was this one, I think:

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people." He quoted at least one other verse during the course of the call as support for why he would stay home from the polls in November.

Laura Ingraham, herself a new and practicing Catholic, countered with what may not be such a hypothetical situation:  who do you want appointing Supreme Court justices, should one of the conservative justices die, or retire (note, Scalia is now 78)?

The guy basically responded with the equivalent of Jackie Gleason's hamina, hamina, hamina.

We must not forget the rant that Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC did on the Mormons.....altho I did not see it (am not one of the 10 people who watch that network!)....but it did receive mention somewhere to alert me about it (probably Rush, O'Reilly, or Hannity).....

Yes, Kathy......agree with you that it is all simply a coincidence that this old-time religion is just now receiving so much publicity.    Oh, sure!

Good time for me to state, again....DON'T BELIEVE THE LIBERAL MEDIA.

The other new upcoming Mormon in the U.S. House is Raul Labrador, first district from Idaho.  He was on one of the Sunday shows within this past month and was excellent......

And, you know.....At least Ron Paul isn't a Commy either!   In fact, let's go down the list of those who are Republicans and those who are Democrats and see who and how many could have that title changed.....

Back in the 1980's, while we were still living in Wichita, my husband and I conducted a Bible study at our church focusing on "Christian" cults -- churches that appear to be Christian, but are not at all within the realm of orthodox Christianity. The biggest of these, of course, is Mormonism.
It is true that Joseph Smith was caught with another woman, and it is true that he introduced the notion of polygamy into the sect shortly after that. But it is not true that the LDS church was started as a result of this peccadillo. The origin of the LDS is just as colorful, to be sure, but not quite as salacious.
As Kathy noted, it is also true that polygamy has not been a part of that faith for about 100 years now; however, there are those fundamentalist Mormon groups in Colorado and other western states which are notorious for child brides and polygamy. Warren Jeffs is the leader of one of those groups, and is now sitting in prison.
For a riveting (and damning) read on the history of the LDS church, juxtaposed with the recent incidences of murder, polygamy, and abuse among fundamentalist Mormons, read "Under the Banner of Heaven," by Jon Krakauer.
However, the modern LDS church has distanced itself from these fringe groups. Moreover, there is no evidence that Romney adheres to anything like this. As Brit Hume noted a couple of nights ago, there is no evidence of any Mormon in any high office (like Romney, Jason Chaffetz, Orrin Hatch, or even Harry Reid) using their office to promote their beliefs.
That's quite a contrast to Obama, whose sympathies to Black Liberation Theology and Islam are as plain as, well, those big ears on the side of his head.

Yvonne, you sure nailed it about the backlash.

Feature this:  I was just channel-surfing and what do I see on 'Our America With Lisa Ling'?  Well, it's all about AMERICAN POLYGAMISTS-plural marriage within, you guessed it, Mormonism! Just a coincidence I'm sure-nothing to do with Romney-

Now last week the lowlives on PMSNBC had a really nasty 'expose' of Mormonism, all about how Joseph Smith was caught in an affair with his maid, and then pretended an 'aha moment' and instituted polygamy.  VERY disgusting tone towards Mormonism, OK?  And the minute it aired I thought, gee!  It certainly is disgusting that the Mormons at one time established polygamy.  But uh, they stopped.  More than 100 yrs. ago.

Now needless to say, NBC said nary a word about Islam's ONGOING institution of polygamy which, unlike that of the Mormons, was/is accompanied by the most appalling treatment of women the world has ever seen.

So Yvonne:  What's next?  I'm deeply respectful of that crystal ball of yours Girlfriend!

I was listening to Glenn Beck this morning, and he was talking about selling shirts that say "Romney: At least he's not a Commy!"

Leslie,  We have to 'VOTE'.  Not voting is 'NOT' an option!!  Anyone can do a 'BETTER' job than Obama and four more years of Obama will defiitely destroy our beloved Country.

Comment by Yvonne Starks on April 12, 2012 at 2:07pm

And we should add Romney's ability to do so well as partial credit to his long-standing, loving marriage where his wife stood behind him and created a warm home atmosphere where he could thrive to face the strain of every day in the business world.

Scandal free should also be added.....just to aggrevate the Left even further.....

The backlash has begun, thanks to CNN's Hillary Rosen.   How deserving.   :)

Yvonne, isn't that one of the MAJOR things which is so wonderful about being a Conservative American?  When entitlement programs are cut, we don't suffer.  That's not because we have no needs.  It's because we supply our own needs.  We don't rely on:  WIC because we don't get pregnant at 14 and use our children as cash cows.  We don't live on Welfare, ADC, and every other gov't. handout there is.

What you mentioned, Yvonne, about Romney?  I can't speak for others but one thing I LOVE about Romney is that he's a money making capitalist who can bring those gifts to bear in reviving our beloved country.

Thank you for your support!
