City Government demands all keys to properties belonging to Cedar Falls residents.

Ordinance #2740( An unfunded city-wide mandate) was passed with a resounding 6 to 1 vote, and it allows for the citizens of Cedar Falls to forcefully give th...

Calm down Greg.

The International Fire Code (as well as Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Energy Efficiency, et. al) are strictly home grown. Once upon a time, there were three competing model code bodies, BOCA, Uniform Building Code and Southern Building Code. About 2000, they merged and had to come up with a new name. International was chosen, perhaps to acknowledge that Canada used some of the codes, perhaps to leave themselves open to selling their books worldwide. The International Code Council is your city planning / code enforcement guys, all gathered in a group.

It is just a name. "Socialistic" though they may be, no UN conspiracy here....

I've always been a strong supporter of the Patriot Act,, but then it really bothered me when the Democrats were suddenly for it ,, where they once lashed out at President Bush concerning it.

They will keep it in place for years to come until some day it will be used against it's Citizens,, possibly in the near future.. I don't think it's very wise any more to trust either party concerning the Patriot Act, because they can rewrite it to fit what they have planned for it's Citizens..  Listen"" I for one believe they have plans to open the boarders in some fashion, and not just the Democrats either.. On job creation let's do it the old fashion way stop a lot of these imports from crossing our boarders from land to shining sea so industries will be forced to set up shop again.. But NO"" Republicans want to give tax breaks so more US industries can leave .. The Devil-rats want to borrow more money to give them an excuse to take more rights away from it's Citizens, saying we now have to control everything to compete with the rest of the world.. Neither one sound to convincing on job creation, Both are full of it.. They know what they have to,, and should do.. But the Republican Candidates won't step out from under that Republican covering, because like a syndicated mafia the Republican party will cause them to fade from the race..  Mister Ron Paul only wants to reach out to Libertarians and neglect the Conservatives,, which makes him look foolish to conservatives.. No True Conservative is interested in him until he becomes one

I just can't get over this. We are down the road to destruction.  Government interference is everywhere. Set up regulations and rules for our own good, they tell us. It is just control, control, control. People better wake up. I am just sick about this administration's polcies.

Saw this on Facebook earlier, and was appalled.  This council sure doesn't have ANY respect for the opinion of those they serve!  Pathetic!!!

And yet only fewer than 10% showed up to vote here in Johnson County, Kansas, for their CITY COUNCIL representatives!

Do we ever learn?  Can we see the handwriting yet?   Do any care enough or realize?

THAT number voting would give the MERIT that city council member arrogantly talked about---with that elitist attitude why "ALLOW" the public into the meeting to speak at all?  Now, that restriction would not be a surprise to us, would it?  How long before THAT takes effect?

Look at how many right here in our own area---Mission, Kansas----were at the DRIVEWAY TAX city council meeting---and hey, guess what....same result.

Since when are we subject to, or subjects of, an international fire code? Perhaps you're okay with the U.N. small arms treaty too? I am not a citizen of the world, like Obama, but of America.

This is nothing new. The International Fire Code gives the fire officials the right to require these without a vote of the city council. Once the city council adopts the IFC, the fire marshal can require that these Knox boxes be installed. Many jurisdictions already have this requirement.

SECTION 506 – Key Boxes

“IFC 506.1 When required. “Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes, the fire code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an accessible location. The key box shall be of an approved type listed in accordance with UL 1037, and shall contain keys to gain access as required by the code official.”

Wow, communism at its finest. How many hold to an idea doesn't matter to them, they the city gov't, know what is best for the residents and business owners and they will do as they wish. How many citizens and businesses will be willing to leave Cedar Falls and move to rural areas for their freedom? The fire chief: yeah I thought about the constitutional aspects but so what? The mayor: the constitutional problem will be solved by someone higher than us. Didn't Justice Scalia say something last week about lazy politicians passing questionable laws?
If the city offered a voluntary program for businesses to provide a key in case of after hours emergencies, that would be possible. To pass a law that says they will do it is absurd.

Thanks for posting this.  I am from Iowa originally and have family in Cedar Falls but had no idea this had happened.

This is only the beginning of what's to come in America.. They are talking about doing away with the smaller towns here in Pennsylvania because the State is broke.. Just think it will most likely happen in other States as well, all because of the greedy banks, and Government selling us out too China..

Businesses are closing down every where, and McDonalds is using the Temporary job program now to hire their employees. My question is why? to show job creation.. I heard from Neil Boortz that McDonalds created 35% or more of those jobs that the Obama administration is claiming..

The sad part is the Republicans will have to use this temporary job service program as well when they take control again, pushing the numbers up for job creation.. VERY SAD..

How will the Republicans cope with out borrowing money as well?

When Obama is done,, America will be in direr straits. What should he care, he has millions if not billions.. GOD help us if he gets elected again.. What bothers me is, America keeps sticking it's nose in other peoples business with these wars, and soon the war will come to us

Thank you for your support!
